Upload Methods

Smart Drive supports multiple ways to upload your contracts:

Drag and Drop

The easiest way to upload contracts is to drag and drop files directly into the Smart Drive interface.

Navigate to Smart Drive

Go to DocumentsDrive in the sidebar.

Drag Files

Drag one or more files from your computer and drop them into the main area.

Wait for Processing

Files will be uploaded and queued for AI processing automatically.

Upload Button

You can also use the upload button for more control:

Click Upload

Click the Upload button in the top action bar.

Select Files

Choose files from your computer using the file picker.

Configure Options

Set any upload options before confirming.

Bulk Upload

For large numbers of contracts, use bulk upload:

Prepare Your Files

Organize files in folders by contract type or entity.

Select Multiple Files

Use Ctrl/Cmd+Click to select multiple files, or select an entire folder.

Monitor Progress

Track upload progress in the upload queue panel.

Upload Queue

When you upload files, they appear in the upload queue showing:
  • File name and size
  • Upload progress bar
  • Processing status:
    • Uploading - File being transferred
    • Queued - Waiting for AI processing
    • Processing - AI extraction in progress
    • Complete - Ready for review
    • Error - Processing failed
Large files may take longer to process. PDF contracts with many pages can take several minutes for complete AI extraction.

Staging Area

After upload, contracts appear in the Staging area where you can:
  1. Review extraction results before committing
  2. Make corrections to any extracted data
  3. Add missing information the AI couldn’t detect
  4. Approve or reject the extraction

Staging Workflow

Best Practices

Name your files descriptively (e.g., Sony_Recording_Agreement_2024.pdf) to make them easier to find and organize.
Ensure you upload complete, fully-executed contracts rather than drafts or partial documents.
For scanned documents, ensure the scan is clear and legible for better OCR results.

Troubleshooting

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify the file size is within limits
  • Try uploading in a different format
  • Document may be heavily formatted or scanned
  • Try uploading a cleaner version
  • Manual entry may be required for some fields
  • Large PDFs with many pages take longer
  • Check the processing queue status
  • Contact support if processing exceeds 24 hours
