Artists represent the individuals who create and perform music. This includes recording artists, songwriters, composers, and producers. Artists can be linked to recordings, compositions, and contracts. CRM Artists

Viewing Artists

List View

The artists list shows:
  • Artist name and image
  • Key identifiers
  • Associated entities (labels, publishers)
  • Recording/composition counts

Filters

Filter artists by:
  • Role - Artist, writer, producer
  • PRO - PRO affiliation
  • Label - Associated record label
  • Publisher - Associated publisher
  • Status - Active, inactive
Search artists by:
  • Name (stage or legal)
  • Aliases
  • Identifiers (IPI, Spotify ID, etc.)

Click on any artist to see full details:
  • Artist name and image
  • Key stats at a glance
  • Quick action buttons

Adding Artists

From Contract Extraction

Artists are automatically added when contracts mention them:
  1. Upload a recording or publishing contract
  2. AI extracts artist names
  3. Artists are matched or created
  4. Review and verify details

Manual Entry

Go to CRM

Navigate to CRMArtists.

Click Add

Click Add Artist.

Enter Details

Fill in name, identifiers, and professional information.

Add Profile Image

Upload or fetch artist image.

Save

Artist is added to your CRM.

From DSP Enrichment

Import artist data from streaming platforms:

Enable Integration

Connect Spotify or Apple Music in Settings.

Search DSP

Search for the artist on the platform.

Import Data

Import profile data, images, and identifiers.

Editing Artists

Open Artist

Navigate to the artist detail view.

Click Edit

Click Edit or click individual fields.

Make Changes

Update artist information.

Changes are saved with full history tracking.

Click Add and search for the label.

Specify the relationship type (signed artist, distributed by, etc.).

Smart Linking & Deduplication

Automatic Matching

When contracts are processed, artists are automatically matched using:
  1. Exact Name Match - Direct name comparison
  2. Identifier Match - Spotify ID, Apple Music ID, IPI, etc.
  3. AI Semantic Matching - Fuzzy matching for name variations

AI-Powered Deduplication

When a potential duplicate is detected, the AI evaluates:
  • Name similarity and variations
  • Identifier overlap
  • Associated entity relationships
The system automatically merges duplicates when confident, preserving all data from both records.

Viewing Merge Reasoning

When artists are automatically merged, you can view the AI’s reasoning:

Open Parent Artist

Navigate to the primary artist record.

Go to Artist Links

Scroll to the Artist Links section to see merged records.

View Reasoning

Hover over the lightbulb icon next to any merged artist to see why the AI determined they were the same person.
When clicking on a merged artist from anywhere in the platform, you’ll be automatically redirected to the parent (primary) artist record.

Manual Merging

When you find duplicate artists that weren’t automatically merged:

Identify Duplicates

Find artist records that represent the same person.

Select Primary

Choose which record should be kept.

Initiate Merge

Use the Merge Artists dialog.

Review & Confirm

Review the merge preview and confirm.

Unmerging Artists

If artists were incorrectly merged:

Open Parent Artist

Navigate to the primary artist record.

Go to Artist Links

View the merged artist records.

Click Unmerge

Click Unmerge next to the incorrectly merged record.

Confirm

The artist becomes independent again.

Navigate to the catalog item.

Add the artist with their specific role.

Multiple PROs

Artists may be affiliated with different PROs in different territories:

Best Practices

Use the most common/official artist name as primary.
Include stage names, real names, and project names.
Add IPI, Spotify ID, and other identifiers for better matching.
