Overview
Artists represent the performers on recordings — the acts a recording is credited to. Artists are automatically extracted from contracts and can be linked to entities (the companies they’re associated with).The CRM artist record is a lightweight identity record: an artist’s name, the entities it’s associated with, and the contracts it appears in. Rich profile data (identifiers, images, streaming stats) is not stored on the CRM artist record.

List View
The artists list shows:- Artist name (with a merge badge when records have been consolidated)
- Associated entities
Artists still being processed are hidden from the list until reconciliation finishes. Artists that need review or failed to process are real data and stay visible.

Adding Artists
From Contract Extraction
Artists are automatically added when contracts mention them:- Upload a recording or artist agreement
- AI extracts artist names
- Artists are matched to existing records or created new
- Review and verify details
Artists are extracted from contracts. There is no manual entry option — all artists come from contract processing.
Smart Linking & Deduplication
Automatic Matching
When contracts are processed, artists are automatically matched using:- Exact Name Match — direct name comparison
- Embedding Match — semantic similarity using AI embeddings
- AI Semantic Matching — fuzzy matching for name variations
AI-Powered Deduplication
When a potential duplicate is detected, the AI evaluates name similarity, variations, and associated entity relationships, then merges duplicates automatically when confident — preserving all data from both records.Viewing Merge Reasoning
When artists are automatically merged, open the primary artist record and scroll to the merged records on the Details tab; hover over the sparkle icon next to any merged artist to see why the AI determined they were the same person.When clicking on a merged artist from anywhere in the platform, you’ll be automatically redirected to the parent (primary) artist record.
Agreement Timeline

Click the bolt icon to enter edit mode, then select artists with the checkboxes to perform bulk actions.Deleting Artists
Delete a single artist from its detail view (Actions → Delete), or several at once in edit mode using the bolt icon.Artists that are linked to a contract are protected from deletion — they are skipped so your contract records stay intact. After a delete, a summary tells you how many artists were deleted and how many were skipped because of a contract relationship (for example, “4 deleted, 2 skipped due to contract relationship.”).To remove a contract-linked artist, delete the contract that references it first. When a contract is deleted, any artists left with no remaining contract or entity links are cleaned up automatically — see Deleting contracts.
