Best Practices

Turn on audit logs when you set up your organization to capture all activity from the start.
Balance compliance requirements with storage costs when setting retention periods.
Periodically review audit logs for unusual activity or security concerns.
Export logs before they expire if you need to retain them longer than your retention period.
Consider exporting logs to your security information and event management (SIEM) system.

Troubleshooting

Audit logs only capture events after the feature is enabled. Historical events before enabling are not logged.
Try adjusting your filters or search terms. Some events may be categorized differently than expected.
Large date ranges may time out. Try exporting smaller date ranges.
Logs older than your retention period are automatically deleted. Export important logs before they expire.
