Structured data fields are by definition an abstraction of legal language. When in doubt, use citations, the AI chat, and the actual contract text to validate the structured data against your own interpretation.

Overview

The Targets extraction captures performance targets and pricing requirements specified in the contract. This is primarily used in compilation licenses, non-exclusive sub licenses, and similar type agreements.

What Gets Extracted

Track Count

The stated number of tracks on the named album or compilation currently licensed under this agreement: Only the count for a currently-licensed album or compilation is captured. Singles, EPs, and mixes do not qualify, and a future-album minimum-track requirement is a delivery commitment, not a track count.

Sales Targets

A quantified commitment by the licensee to sell, stream, or distribute — this is the gate that decides whether a number becomes a sales target at all:

Price Targets

Pricing requirements:
Condition is not an extracted field. You can attach a condition to a target manually in the edit dialog (see Editing Targets below), but the extractor does not read one from the contract — a target’s qualifiers live in its Description.

Sales Target Examples

Common sales target types:

What is not a sales target

A sales target must be a quantified commitment by the licensee to sell, stream, or distribute. The following look similar but are deliberately not extracted as sales targets:
  • Certification bonuses (“a bonus on Gold certification in the US”)
  • Royalty escalations and royalty thresholds
  • Free-goods provisions
  • Definitional thresholds (numbers used only to define a term)
  • Delivery obligations (these are commitments, not targets)
  • Marketing budgets

Price Target Examples

Use Cases

  • Performance tracking: Monitor progress toward targets
  • Pricing compliance: Ensure releases meet price requirements
  • Option triggers: Check a release’s performance against the thresholds an option or bonus elsewhere in the contract depends on (the bonus clause itself is not extracted here)
